SAT/ACT Essay and English Literature Essays Training
Comprehension and Creation of Logical Argument in English Essays
In this class, students will first enhance their ability to analyze an author’s argument by learning basic text structures and studying passages from previous SAT and ACT papers. Students will then go on to put their learning into practice, constructing their own arguments in writing. The class will also cover key elements of literature essays such as theme, thematic statement, thesis statement, topic sentences, analysis, synthesis, and conclusions.
The class will be useful preparation for the SAT, ACT, and for AP English Language and Composition. It will also address common difficulties with English literature essays. Selected texts and passages will be short, allowing students more time to refine their skills. The class is designed for high school students, and it is intended to be both instructive and enjoyable.
3 hours/day. For high school students.
Juliet has successfully helped SpringLight's students with their college application essays, high school essays, and SAT/ACT preparation. Most of her students have been able to raise their test scores in a short period of time, and her students feel a heightened sense of responsibility and care when working with her. Students she has worked with for college applications have been admitted to Stanford, Yale, MIT, and more.
