AP biology class in the summer and fall
A college-level course for motivated students in 9th- 12th grade with no (or little) biology background. A chemistry background is recommended but not required.
Course goals:
- Get students excited about this fascinating field!
- Deeply cover all the materials required for the AP exam
- Biochemistry
- Cell structures
- Membranes and transport
- Cell signalling
- Cell energetics (enzymes, photosynthesis, and cell respiration)
- Cell replication (mitosis and meiosis)
- Genetics (inheritance, DNA structure + replication, transcription + translation, gene expression)
- Biotechnology
- Viruses, bacteria
- Evolution, phylogeny, and the history of life on Earth
- Ecology
- Practice the data analysis and critical thinking necessary for AP exams and scientific thinking
- We cover the AP-relevant chapters of Campbell’s Biology (this is a college-level textbook and considered the biology bible).
Some of our students also take AP Biology in school, but others choose to independently study for the exam. For students who intend to take the AP exam in May 2026, we additionally recommend the AP Biology PREP course in March-May 2026 to review materials and take many practice exams.
The course is taught synchronously over Zoom, so students can easily attend. Mrs. Webster is a dynamic teacher who keeps students engaged and entertained during the class.
Students who miss a class can catch up via recording.
Homework and class materials are shared via Google Classroom.

Spring AP Biology Test Prep Class
Are you ready for the AP Biology exam in May?
By reviewing essential concepts as well as providing up to date multiple-choice and FRQ practices, our course will prepare you for this tough exam.
Many schools teach either too little or too much information for the AP Biology test. Spring Light's test-prep class reviews only the essential material, thoroughly, with an emphasis on those topics YOU need help with.
(The class is appropriate for students who are completing an AP Biology course or self-studying for the AP Bio exam. Students with no biology experience should talk to teacher before registering.)
ALL past students have passed the exam, with most receiving a 4 or a 5 (even 9th graders and self-studiers).
Class is held synchronously, over zoom. Students who miss a class are welcome to watch class recording and email the teacher with any questions.
