No previous programming experience is required!

During the course, students will learn everything they need to begin designing and developing their own Android applications. Starting with computer science principles and programming basics in Java and continuing with layout design in XML followed by application programming in Java.

Taking this course will give students a Mobile Application to add to their github or programming project portfolios. This course will also prepare students for internships in Mobile Design, Java Programming, and Android Programming.

Day 1. Software Installation and Java Basics
Day 2. Advanced Java Programming Concepts
Day 3. Introducing Android Basics with the Hello World App
Day 4. Finishing Android Basics with the Custom Calculator App
Day 5. Course Project Presentations (Your Own App)

10 hr Total, 2.5 hr Sessions

  • Microsoft® Windows® 7/8/10 (64-bit)
  • 4 GB RAM minimum, 8 GB RAM recommended
  • 2 GB of available disk space minimum,
    4 GB Recommended (500 MB for IDE + 1.5 GB for Android SDK and emulator system image)
  • 1280 x 800 minimum screen resolution

  • Mac® OS X® 10.10 (Yosemite) or higher, up to 10.14 (macOS Mojave)
  • 4 GB RAM minimum, 8 GB RAM recommended
  • 2 GB of available disk space minimum,
    4 GB Recommended (500 MB for IDE + 1.5 GB for Android SDK and emulator system image)
  • 1280 x 800 minimum screen resolution

  • GNOME or KDE desktop
    Tested on gLinux based on Debian.
  • 64-bit distribution capable of running 32-bit applications
  • GNU C Library (glibc) 2.19 or later
  • 4 GB RAM minimum, 8 GB RAM recommended
  • 2 GB of available disk space minimum,
    4 GB Recommended (500 MB for IDE + 1.5 GB for Android SDK and emulator system image)
  • 1280 x 800 minimum screen resolution
