NACLO Training

Computational Linguistics continues to play a more and more important role in modern technology. It also weighs more in college admissions regardless of if you want to study computer science or linguistics.

The North American Computational Linguistics Olympiad (NACLO) is a contest in which high-school students solve linguistic puzzles. By solving these challenging puzzles, students learn more about the diversity and consistency of language, while exercising logic skills. No prior knowledge of linguistics or second languages is necessary to compete; even the hardest problems require only your logical ability, patience, and the willingness to think creatively.

Contest Date:

Open Round: The 4th Thursday morning in January

The number of students who participate in NACLO every year from the U.S. and Canada is less than 2000, which leaves a strong chance for students to qualify for the semi-final round.

NACLO is as just as prestigious as USAMO, USACO, USABO, USAPhO and USNCO, although it is still not as widely known by students and parents.
