How can we shape our students the merits that all American colleges are looking for, demonstrate their sense of compassion, commitment, responsibility and leadership through their portfolio?
Even if your child is going to apply for science and engineering program, such a portfolio will also help them to enter their favorite school.
A good portfolio can not only get a student admitted into top Art/Design programs, but also supplement the application to more STEM-based fields by uniquely showcasing your creativity, compassion, commitment, and problem-solving skills.
This portfolio workshop will train students to think outside of the box, will guide the students to actually solving a social problem and provide a creative solution. During the portfolio preparation process, students will research to understand target users’ problems and needs. Students will learn portfolio presentation skills, will learn to document the research, problem and solution process. Quote from RISD,(one of the best art and design institutions) “We strongly recommend that you include a few pages from your journal or sketchbook to indicate your process of research, thinking and investigation.”
This portfolio workshop may guide students to work on one or two design projects to help minorities or disabilities people or those who need special care, may guide students to learn traditional folk art and crafts, and redesign them. With such projects, we will help to build the students and demonstrate their merits in compassion, commitment, personal interest, leadership, creativity, and problem solving skills, which are the key merits that American colleges and societies values the most. This portfolio course, will not just helping the students to prepare their portfolio, but also give them such an opportunity to shape such merits, which will be their golden experience in life as well.

This portfolio preparation course will help students not just to prepare some visual work, but also prepare a beautiful story, which will demonstrate their interest, commitment, compassion, creativity and many other merits, which are the personal merits that the world's most prestigious schools value the most.

Students will complete their own portfolio, one that represents themselves as a designer and demonstrates their creativity, ability, and personality.

About the instructor
This will be a portfolio preparation course taught by Mr. Tingbin Tang, an interactive design professor at San Jose State University and former director of the design department at China Central Academy of Fine Arts. He’s the current CEO of Nearal and former CEO of Gopackup, Qifang and Peopeo; his artworks have been permanently collected by The Chicago Athenaeum, an International Museum of Architecture and Design, and have won him numerous international design awards. His work has been reported by Time Magazine, CNN, ABC news, and many other media and press. As an professional art and designer in the field, as an design educator in two world famous art and design institute, as a serial entrepreneur and passionate innovator, he will help you prepare the best portfolio and help you to be admitted by the best school.
